Why Using Real Estate Photography
The right photograph can make a huge difference in how quickly a home or business sells. The photos taken of the property need to be well done and need to showcase all of the attractive and beneficial points of the property so a potential buyer gets a good idea of what the property looks like and what it includes. For many real estate agents, the question is going to be whether to attempt real estate photography on their own or to hire a professional photographer.
Tips for Getting Great Photographs
There are many real estate photography tips that can help a person learn how to take better pictures. Composition and proper lighting are two of the most important aspects of photographing real estate and something any real estate agent who takes their own pictures should understand. Beyond that, they should understand how to prepare the room to be photographed and how to edit the pictures once they’re taken to make sure they look fantastic. This can be done using Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or another dedicated photo editor. It’s typically a good idea to use a prosumer or professional camera for these photographs as they allow the photographer to micromanage the settings to get the exact picture they want and to make sure everything is going to look correct in the photograph. They also use the RAW format for photographs, meaning they can capture photos with more details. This gives them the opportunity to take pictures they can edit with dedicated editing software to make sure it looks the way they want.
As you can see the photos were taken with a cell phone (on the left), even though there was a nice natural light it was not enough to get it right. Also, in some cases like the bathroom, the lens on an amateur camera or cell phone is not wide enough to show the area . Additional to that the colors are wrong showing an uncomfortable ambience.
These photos were taken with a professional camera (on the right), balancing natural and artificial light. The aspect ration is more comfortable because it shows us more with no distortion. Colors are well balanced on camera and post production.
Hiring a Professional Photographer
All of the tips above can easily start to sound expensive and overwhelming. The real estate agent isn’t going to get a good picture just by snapping away with their smartphone. While smartphones do have excellent cameras and can take good pictures, they simply cannot take the professional pictures that someone who specializes in Real Estate Photography is going to be able to take. The majority of smartphones cannot take photos in RAW and many do not have the ability to change settings the way a professional camera does. If a smartphone is the real estate agent’s only option or they don’t have the time to learn to take professional photographs on their own, they’re going to need to hire a professional real estate photographer. This can make a huge difference in the quality of their photographs and can make a difference in how quickly the property sells.
As a real estate agent, you need to be prepared to get the photos that are going to sell the property. It is possible for you to learn how to take better photos on your own, but you may also want to work with someone who specializes in residential decoration and real estate photography. Always, working with a professional is going to be able to take fantastic pictures that will really showcase the property and help it sell much faster.
